What Is Exhibit?
Exhibit is a digital storytelling platform that lets cultural heritage professionals, educators, students, and researchers turn digital collections into rich, interactive visual narratives — with no coding required.
Whether you are building a classroom assignment, an online exhibition, a museum trail quiz, or an unattended gallery kiosk, Exhibit gives you deep-zoom 2D imagery, rotatable 3D models, audio and video clips, guided scrollytelling, and interactive quizzes to present collections at their best.
Using Exhibit on exhibit.so
The hosted service at exhibit.so is free to use with no account, sign-in, or setup required:
- Create an exhibit immediately: Go straight to exhibit.so/exhibits/create, choose a template, and enter your exhibit's title, author, and description in Settings.
- Import IIIF items: Paste any IIIF Presentation 2.0 or 3.0 manifest or IIIF Collection URL from participating museums, libraries, archives, and universities — including high-resolution 2D images, 3D Models (
.glb), and Audio and Video. - Four interactive templates: Present your story as an auto-playing Kiosk, a vertical scrollytelling article (Scroll), a step-by-step slide deck (Slides), or an interactive Quiz with multiple-choice questions and visual pinpoints.
- Share, embed, and remix: Share a public or password-protected viewing link, embed your exhibit in any webpage or VLE via
<iframe>, or let students and visitors copy and adapt your exhibit with the Duplicate Button.
